It is challenging to remain grounded in our evolutionary truth: human voice. This is only exacerbated by uncertainties propagated by rapidly advancing artificial intelligence and an ever-changing social, economic, and political landscape which continues to uproot our communities.

At TYS, we are committed to uplifting the stories of our generation, and are rooted in a mission that is too often sidelined within our international dialogue: the value of writing as feeling and thinking. These two ingredients are critical to inspiring a brighter future for us all.

While we will begin with strictly need-based college counseling services—through the generosity of our donors—our mission supersedes the silo of college applications. We are currently providing assistance in writing for this purpose because it is one of the remaining, systemic avenues through which young people are compelled to write. As high school students are beginning to turn to ChatGPT for support during the arduous college application processes, we are a recourse to this tantalizing and increasingly ubiquitous “tool.”

Irrespective of your intentions to apply to college, we welcome you in joining us on this long journey ahead. It is now, more important than ever, for you to tell your story. Story by story, we must weave together our human ties (tys) — it is a responsibility we each owe to one another. Tell the story of your past, how it colors your present, and how you dream of your place in a better tomorrow. Together, we might just be able to sow a new narrative as human beings in a world that is beginning to forget our roots: an ecosystem of entangled histories that tell the story of human kind.
